Overview

Research is an integral part of the academic activities of BVDU. As a testimony to this the University has established three self-financed dedicated research institutes namely,
  • Interactive Research School for Health Affairs, Pune for research in Biomedical Sciences
  • Research and Development Centre in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Applied Chemistry, Pune
  • Yashwantrao Chavan Institute of Social Science Studies and Research, Pune.

Research and Development Cell (RDC)

As per the UGC guidelines BVDU has established the Research and Development Cell (RDC) that promotes and monitors research, innovation, incubation and entrepreneurship activities in the constituent colleges.

Vision

To build a robust and sustainable research ecosystem at Bharati Vidyapeeth, aligned with the vision and transformative goals of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, fostering innovation, interdisciplinary learning, and impactful knowledge creation.

Mission

  • To foster a conducive environment and a strong support system that empowers faculty and students to achieve research excellence and enhance research productivity in higher education.
  • To promote collaboration with industry, government, community organisations, and agencies at local, national, and international levels to drive innovation and impactful outcomes.
  • To enhance access to research through effective mobilisation of resources and funding, supporting innovation and academic excellence.

Sub Committees of RDC

The BVDU RDC and its sub-committees consist of the expert faculty members along with external experts that review the operations and regulates the research activities. The RDC has following sub-committees:

  • Finance and infrastructure,
  • Research programme policy development,
  • Collaboration and consultancy
  • Product development, monitoring, and commercialization,
  • IPR, Legal and Ethical matters.

These committees help in promotion, implementation, and monitoring of research across all colleges of the university.

Objectives of RDC

  • To identify the thrust areas of research and identify cluster groups /consortium of researchers within BVDU & BV institutes
  • To promote multidisciplinary & interdisciplinary research : Basic & Translational
  • To encourage extramural research funding
  • To encourage Innovation, Startups and Entrepreneurship development
  • To create incentive policies to motivate and encourage faculty and students
  • To encourage national and international collaboration with industry, research institutes and academia
  • To encourage fund raising by offering research related services
  • To promote capacity building for the faculty and students
  • To strengthen the PhD program and provide research fellowships
  • To provide BVDU Research Management Software System to collect and manage research related information
  • To monitor the research activities through BVDU Research Review Board

It is a double blind peer-reviewed, open access quarterly journal started in January 2021. The journal publishes original articles, short articles, reviews, case reports, case series, systematic reviews, meta-analyses and letter to editor. With a strong emphasis on quality research, Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University) has published numerous papers in reputed national and international peer-reviewed journals. In addition to research publications, the University actively supports faculty in patent filing, research collaborations, and academic initiatives. Since its establishment, several patents filed by faculty have been published and granted at both national and international levels.

The University offers opportunities to engage in collaborative research projects with leading international universities, research organisations, and renowned industries. Numerous research projects are undertaken each year with funding support from reputed external agencies. Faculty members are also encouraged to undertake consultancy services for government and private sector organisations.
