Bachelor of Optometry (B.Optometry)

• Knowledge of optometry - Students will be able get an exhaustive understanding about the complete visual system.
• Building of Skills - During the course, students will be able to hone their skills and would be able to work in the sphere of health care services with special focus on treatment of eyes.
• Communication Skills and Professional Attitude - As an optometrist, or vision consultant or optician, the students will get an opportunity to enhance their communication skills as this will prove beneficial in their career.

Aims and Objectives of the Programme

The Bachelor in Clinical Optometry programme at BV (DU) MC School of Optometry follows all the recommendations of Government of India, Ministry of Family Welfare, National Commission for Allied Health Professions, Indian Optometric Association and World Council of Optometry.

The syllabus for the Bachelor of Clinical Optometry (B.Optom.) Programme aims to prepare a primary healthcare professional, an “Optometrist” who can:

• Estimate refractive errors of the eye and prescribe corrective measures including Spectacles, Contact Lenses, Low Vision Aids and Vision Therapy.
• Detect pathological conditions of the Visual system, which are deviations from normal. Diagnose ocular and related systemic and neurological diseases and refer the cases to other medical professionals for detailed medical and surgical management.
• Design, manufacture, prescribe and fit all kinds of Optical aids including Spectacles, Sunglasses, Ophthalmic Lenses, Contact Lenses, and Low Vision Aids.
• Examine, diagnose and prescribe treatment for Oculo-motility malfunctions like phorias, tropias and other types of strabismus (squint) and Neuro-muscular anomalies.
• Undertake Public Health Optometry projects and vision screening eye camps in schools, colleges, urban slums, rural areas and also practice occupational Optometry in industries.
• Provide public education on ocular hygiene and related nutritional and environmental counselling.
• Offer a helping hand and or efficiently manage and successfully run any Ophthalmic clinic, Eye department in hospitals, Optician shops, Optical, Ophthalmic industry & trade.

Tuition and other fees including deposits

Every student will have to pay the tuition and other fees and deposits as prescribed from time to time by Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University). University reserves the right to revise this fee structure.

*The fee shall be revised upwards @5% per year.

In addition to this every student has to pay other fees like examination fees as prescribed by the University from time to time.
